Wayne Gosse
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Wayne Gosse is from Newfoundland and Labrador and has been the CEO of Northern Pulp Nova Scotia since July 2009. In this role, Wayne has responsibility for all of Northern Pulp's operations, including both the Mill and Timberlands businesses.
Prior to this, Wayne was the Controller for Neenah Paper Company of Canada (predecessor Company) since January 2004 with responsibility for Finance, Materials Management and Information Technology at both Pictou, Nova Scotia and Terrace Bay, Ontario pulp mills and related timber operations. He was appointed Mill Controller in 1994. Wayne has been an active member on various pension investment committees, as well as being involved in contract bargaining for a number of years.
Prior to joining the Pictou Mill team in 1989 (appointed Mill Controller in 1994), Wayne worked in the mining industry with the Iron Ore Company of Canada ("I.O.C.C.") for twelve years and held numerous corporate and manufacturing facility financial positions at both its Newfoundland & Labrador and Quebec operations. Prior to joining the Pictou Mill, Wayne had been the Divisional Controller for I.O.C.C.'s railway and terminal facilities.
Wayne graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance in 1977. He also graduated from the Western Executive Program, Ivey School of Business, London, Ontario.
Tim Lowe
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Tim Lowe is from Woodland, Maine, and joined Northern Pulp Nova Scotia in August, 2009. In his role as COO, Tim is responsible for the entire mill operation, maintenance and engineering including timberland functions.
Tim had been a long standing employee of Domtar Industries Inc. where he held several increasing-in-responsibility positions. Prior to coming to Northern Pulp he was General Manager of the Woodland, Maine facility. Tim started at the Woodland Maine mill in 1982 as a pipefitter and was promoted to General Manager in 2006.
Tim brings a wealth of experience to Northern Pulp Nova Scotia in the areas of safety, and best practices in maintenance and operations.
Don Breen
Vice-President Strategic Planning & Government Affairs
Don Breen is from Havre Boucher, NS and has over 30 years of experience in the pulp manufacturing industry. Don joined Scott Paper (former owners of the Northern Pulp facility) in June of 1979 as a Process Engineer. Don has progressed through numerous middle and senior management positions and has been involved in contract bargaining for a number of years.
In his role of Vice-President Strategic Planning & Government Affairs, Don is responsible for long term planning, government affairs as well as environmental affairs and technology development. Prior to his current role, he was Vice-President – Manufacturing with overall responsibility of the manufacturing process, utilities, maintenance, engineering and environmental functions.
Don received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and St. Francis Xavier University. He also graduated from the Western Executive Program, Ivey School of Business, London, Ontario. Don is a registered professional engineer in Nova Scotia.
Robert (Bob) Bagdon
Vice-President Human Resources, Communications and Logistics
Bob Bagdon is from Northwestern Ontario where he worked in the forest products (pulp manufacturing) sector for 25 years with Kimberly-Clark and Neenah Paper. During his tenure in Ontario, Bob held positions in Procurement, Human Resources, Fibre Resource Manager and Woodlands Operations Leader. Bob was transferred to the Pictou mill in September 2006 while it was under the ownership of Neenah Paper.
Bob's role as Vice-President Human Resources was expanded in February 2009 to include Communications and Logistics. In this capacity, Bob has responsibility for Human Resources, Sales and Shipping, Purchasing, Warehousing and Communications functions.
Bob studied Business Administration at Lakehead University and holds a certificate in Procurement from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.
Michael (Mike) McLarty
Timberlands Manager
Mike McLarty is from Northwestern Ontario and joined Northern Pulp Nova Scotia in July, 2009. Mike is a Registered Professional Forester in the Province of Ontario and has spent 15 years in the forestry industry. While in Ontario, Mike was employed with Kimberly Clark, Neenah Paper and most recently with Buchanan Forest Products before moving to Nova Scotia. He has held numerous different forest operation and planning positions including District Superintendent. Mike was also responsible for the development of Neenah Paper's environmental management and forest certification programs on the Kenogami Forest.
In his role as Timberlands Manager, Mike oversees all of Northern Pulp Nova Scotia's forest management activities and fiber procurement to the mill. This includes the direct management of over 600,000 acres in the province of Nova Scotia.
Mike received an Honours Bachelor Degree of Science in Forestry from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1999.
